Coats For Kids

To any child, playing outside is much more pleasant when they have a jacket to keep them warm. However, there are thousands of children in our area who don’t have an adequate coat for the cold winter months.
Coats for Kids is a local program that collects new and used coats and gives them to children who are in need of one. This past November, over 3,000 children from Las Cruces and the surrounding areas went home with a nice warm coat.

Since the program began in 1995, Coats for Kids has helped over 20,000 children keep warm during the winter. They accept cash and new and used coat donations throughout the year. First Community Bank is happy to take monetary and new coat donations while any Comet Cleaners location will gladly take any used coats. Registration for children, from birth to 5 years old, starts in September and lasts until October 15th.

Special thanks to the major sponsors; Community Action Agency of Southern New Mexico, First Community Bank, Comet Cleaners, and Bravo Mic. Also, many thanks to those who donated to the cause and to the volunteers from the community who were on hand to help each child pick out a coat.
