Many of us are paying dearly for years of over-eating and under-exercising. So we attempt to strip our diets to the bare minimum (rice cakes and water) in an effort to regain some control over our health. But with our busy lifestyles (and the fact that stripping our diets only manages to frustrate us), regaining control can seem unattainable and quite difficult. Especially because we eat out regularly and many of us don’t know how to order healthy when we do. Well, believe it or not, there is a way. Follow these few tips to help you stay on track even on nights when you do eat out.
Drink a glass of water before your meal comes. It will make you feel full so you’ll eat less.
If you must have a burger, skip the cheese, mayo and bacon. Instead ask for ketchup or mustard and substitute the fries for a baked potato.
Eat only half of what you are served on your plate and take the other half home for dinner.
For dessert, order fresh fruit if it is available otherwise try a sorbet.
Avoid anything that is fried, instead order items that are grilled, broiled, steamed, roasted, baked or flame cooked.
If you are having a salad, avoid the cheese and ask for fat free dressing or no dressing at all.
