Back to School Fashion

“Boy am I lucky!” I tell myself as I am getting ready for school, looking into my closet. I have a bunch of clothes. What should I wear? Fall will be here soon and I have eight pairs of Capri’s, 12 pairs of jeans, at least twenty or more shirts and nine pairs of shoes. But I think I’ll wear shorts since I won’t be able to wear them much longer. I’ll wear my jean shorts with a pink shirt. And since it’s a little chilly in the mornings, I’ll just wear a sweater. But what matches with that plain outfit? I know, I can accessorize with jewelry and a bag!

Sometimes you see 10 or 11 year old girls at the mall or in public that look very pretty and their outfits match their age. Then, all of a sudden you look the other direction and “wow”, that girl is not dressed like a little girl. I’m 11 years old and what I think girls my age should be wearing are shirts that are colorful with cute characters and cute bugs too. Also, wear jeans and skirts and shorts that are not too short. Remember that when you are dressing for school you have to consider what the dress code is. Besides, at our age we shouldn’t be worried about trying to fit in with the teenagers by wearing Pac-Sun, rue 21, or Charlotte Russe. Yes, it’s true that they have beautiful clothes and you might fit in them, but the thing is you’re only 11 years old. It’s good that you are interested in those styles and you think they are pretty, but I suggest shopping in stores that carry little girl clothes instead until you get a little older. I have a closet full of little girl clothes and I don’t care I still wear them because I am only in sixth grade. I think its ok because I’m not trying to fit in with the styles that teenagers and older girls are wearing.

When I go to school or in public, I feel I have to look good so I’ll dress into my bright yellow shirt and my shorts that have different colored stripes on them and I’ll wear my yellow flats. I put on accessories like my earrings and maybe a necklace, spray on a little perfume, do my hair pretty and put lotion on my body. So when you go out in public try to look good and have fun with your style. Just keep in mind that in order to look good you have to look your age, and not like a 16 year old girl. It’s very simple, dress your age but be creative with your styles. And by being creative with your styles I mean you can wear green jeans with a blue shirt and yellow flats. But for those colors to go together the shirt or the pants need to have blue, yellow or green in them and the shoes need to have one of those colors too. You can complete the outfit with an accessory that matches with all three colors. If you are in the mood for looking girly take a purse along that matches your outfit. And if you must wear a ponytail do it pretty not all sloppy with your bangs flying everywhere.

When a girl looks like her age it looks better. It means that she is not trying to be someone else and she likes the way she looks and feels good about herself. So now you know what does and what doesn’t look good on an 11 year old. Now I have to get ready for school. :-)
