Winter 2012: Here's to our best work yet to come!

As I sit here and analyze 2011, I must say that the year was far from idyllic. It was, in fact, quite a rough year, not only for me, but also for many people whom I have talked to about the subject. It seems as though we all had to deal with personal hardships, financial woes and even some sadness. But personally,I wouldn't change a thing! I am a firm believer in the old adage, "What doesn't kill you, makes you stronger." So, if this past year was a bit harsh on you, please join me in welcoming the New Year with open arms and let’s be ready, once again, to take any challenge on head first!

No matter how you wish to embark 2012, this issue offers lots of ways to help you make it your best year ever including the inspiring article, “Living for the Joy to Come,” written by Wade Anthony Cornelius. It is truly an inspiration to me because it talks about the importance of finding our intended meaning of life so that the displeasures of this world won’t weigh so heavily on us. Aside from hardships, I know we’ve also had brief moments of joy in our life. But, have you ever noticed that none of the pleasures of this world are truly ever-lasting? I encourage you to read the article on page 6 and this coming year give some thought to what truly makes you happy.

We’ve also included articles in a wide spectrum of subjects: an in-depth look at the Mayan calendar that is said to predict the coming of the end of times on December 21, 2012; a gut wrenching article about the horrible truth behind human trafficking and its victims; an intriguing story of Jose Tena and his son and their harmoniously contradictory interests; a few mouth-watering recipes for the upcoming Lenten and Easter holiday—and much more.

I hope you enjoy our first issue of 2012 and all of those yet to come. We will continue to work tirelessly to bring you only the best stories that come out of not only Las Cruces, but the entire region. Many of you have called us and e-mailed us stories that you would like to see in Tu Revista Latina and we carefully consider every suggestion so please keep them coming.

I wish you a year filled with much love, blessings, triumphs, successes and happiness!
